The stretch of coast between Villa Rosa and Martinsicuro is of great naturalistic interest. In 1988, a protected area was created to protect the dune flora species, combining the respect for nature with the tourist use of the beach.
The scenario is of a wild nature close to the sea, characterized by sand dunes, reeds and a 40 native plant species, once widespread throughout the Adriatic.
The Coastal Biotope in Martinsicuro. In ecology, a “biotope” is a limited size area with its own specific ecosystem that ensures the protection of “psammophilous” plans meaning “friends of the sand” because they can survive in dry areas that are rich in salt.
